Ph. D. and senior lecturer in Political Science. I defended my thesis ”At the Command of God. On the Political Linkage of Islamist Parties” in 2004. I was previously employed at the School of Global Studies and the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES), Lund University.
My main research interest covers EU’s democracy promotion in the Mediterranean, and democratic processes in primarily Turkey and Jordan.
Presently, I am finishing my book ”European Union and its Mediterranean Neighbours”, to be published by Routledge in 2013.
I teach at the teacher’s programme, where I am responsible for the course "Steering, organisation and assessment" and in social sciences, where I am responsible for the courses "Democracy in theory and practice!" and "Methodology".
I have also supervised and examined a large number of master's and bachelor's theses, and taught at the Master programme in European Studies.
